Big Kev Giveback Camp

The initiative inspired by the late Kevin Weems aims to rejuvenate the spirit of community through sports and mentorship by bringing back local legends to Topeka. Since its inception in July 2022, this annual event has sought to empower student-athletes by illustrating the valuable pathways that sports can provide. Participants, whether basketball players, football players, or multi-sport athletes, have the opportunity to engage with esteemed athletes from the Topeka area, as well as former professional and collegiate sports figures.

Student-athletes can choose to partake in either the basketball or football camps, or both, allowing them to tailor their experience according to their interests and skill levels. Participants are categorized into groups based on age and/or skill, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for all.

Currently, the cost for camper participation is approximately $20, which covers lunch and a commemorative shirt. However, our immediate objective is to eliminate this cost for all youth student-athletes, making the camp accessible to everyone. Furthermore, we aspire to provide commemorative basketballs and footballs to each camper.

To enhance the experience, we aim to collaborate with community leaders who can join us as special guests and share their insights with the participants. In order to achieve these ambitious goals, we are actively seeking sponsorships and donations from local, national, and global businesses. Your support can not only impact individual lives but also contribute to the cultivation of future leaders within our community.
